Treatment does not mean recovery is over; it is a lifetime process. Our Alumni Rehab Program at District Behavioral Health (DBH) will fill the gap between organized treatment and self-sufficient living. This program helps individuals connect, receive support, and stay motivated to maintain a healthy and substance-free life.
The DBH Alumni Rehab Program is designed to enhance recovery, prevent relapse, and promote long-term wellness. Our alumni community is an effective system of knowledge and support through the support of their peers, mentorship, and continued learning. This program helps individuals connect, receive support, and stay motivated to maintain a healthy and substance-free life.
A Rehab Alumni Program is a continuous support service for people who have completed treatment and need to remain engaged in the recovery process. Our Alumni Rehab Program at District Behavioral Health provides graduates of our addiction and mental health programs with structured opportunities to stay connected with staff, peers, and support groups. This ongoing participation helps clients stay accountable, receive encouragement, and develop a community that fosters long-term healing.
Simply put, it is not merely a group, but a lifetime bond. Alumni programs offer continuity of care, providing a reliable support system for former patients as they navigate the challenges of daily life.
In one follow-up study, individuals who underwent one detox event had a 59.91% relapse rate; those with multiple detoxifications had relapse rates as high as 88% [1].
A rehab alumni program is important because it offers a sustained sense of connection, prevents relapse, and creates a supportive community of recovery.
A rehab alumni program is essential because it offers a sustained sense of connection, helps prevent relapse, and creates a supportive community for recovery. The biggest challenges often arise after treatment ends. The uncertainties of daily life replace the controlled atmosphere of rehab, and this change can be difficult. The DBH Alumni Rehab Program is designed to make that difference.
Here is why alumni programs are so important:
Continuity of Care: Recovery is a journey, not a destination. An alumni program extends the spectrum of care by providing ongoing support and resources even after formal treatment has concluded.
Community Connection: Isolation is a common trigger for relapse. Staying in touch with other alumni who share a similar experience helps individuals feel accepted and supported.
Accountability: Regular check-ins, group activities, and events help alumni remain motivated and accountable to their recovery goals.
Empowerment: Alumni find a sense of purpose by assisting those who are newer to recovery, often serving as mentors or community advocates.
Continued Education: Through workshops and seminars, alumni are encouraged to keep learning new coping skills and strategies for emotional and mental wellness.
At DBH, our Alumni Rehab Program is a key element of long-term recovery. It ensures that no one walks out of treatment with only tools, but with a lifelong support system as well.
Our Alumni Rehab Program offers emotional, educational, and social benefits that enhance the likelihood of long-term recovery success. Between 40% and 60% of people relapse after completing a treatment program [2].
Our alumni program provides a range of resources and opportunities to support individuals in their growth, healing, and long-term success after treatment.
The transition from treatment to independent living can be challenging. Our Alumni Rehab Program ensures you don’t have to go through it alone. Continued access to therapy groups, counseling sessions, and peer meetings helps build resilience and prevent relapse.
Addiction often isolates people. Our alumni community reestablishes that lost connection by fostering a true sense of belonging. Group activities, coaching sessions, and virtual meetings enable participants to build valuable relationships that last long after treatment.
Having someone who has walked the same path can make all the difference. The DBH Alumni Rehab Program offers mentorship opportunities where experienced alumni provide guidance, emotional support, and sound advice to new graduates.
Lasting recovery depends on continued education. We offer regular workshops, mental health seminars, and relapse prevention courses. Alumni also have access to our CaredFor app, a digital learning platform, and other educational materials to stay informed and empowered.
Recovery isn’t just about avoiding substances—it’s about rediscovering joy in life. DBH hosts social events, wellness retreats, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities to keep alumni connected and engaged in positive, fulfilling pursuits.
Many of our alumni are successfully restructuring their careers and personal lives. We provide support through job readiness training, resume workshops, and connections to career planning services to help everyone build a stable foundation for their future.
Alumni feedback is crucial to our improvement. By sharing their experiences, graduates help DBH continuously refine its treatment programs to make them more effective, compassionate, and patient-centered.
In a 2021 survey, 72.2 % of U.S. adults who had faced substance use challenges said they considered themselves in recovery.[3]
Our Alumni Rehab Program keeps former clients connected and engaged in their long-term recovery through regular meetings, workshops, and online interactions. Once treatment is complete, graduates are invited to join the DBH Alumni Network. Through this network, they can attend therapy groups, participate in recovery workshops, and stay connected with our community and staff.
Monthly Alumni Meetings: Virtual or Face-to-Face meetings dedicated to recovery education, peer discussion, and relapse prevention.
Peer Support Groups: These are small, confidential groups of alumni or trained facilitator-led groups.
Educational Webinars: Online sessions covering topics like trigger management, emotional regulation, and stress management.
Volunteer and Advocacy Opportunities: Alumni have the opportunity to volunteer in outreach programs or mentor those in treatment.
Cared For App Access: An online platform that connects alumni with each other, provides resources, and offers inspirational content for continued support.
The Alumni Rehab Program is participatory and provides an inclusive and safe environment for all individuals still undergoing the recovery process.
Among people who eventually resolved substance use problems, the median number of serious recovery attempts was 2, and the mean was about 5.35.[4]
Choosing the Alumni Rehab Program offered by DBH is a decision that fosters lifelong connection, understanding, and growth. The difference between our program and others is that we have a compassionate and evidence-based approach, which forms the basis of all that we do. Our staff, who are in recovery themselves (as many of them are), are all real empathetic professionals who understand the process.
The alumni program is unique in the following ways:
Community, no judgmental.
Availability of licensed therapists/counselors.
Hybrid (physical and online) participation.
Career and wellness services.
Mindfulness and relapse prevention classes.
Effective peer mentoring system.
The Alumni Rehab Program is not just a support network, but an extension of the services provided to enable all participants to lead healthy and purposeful lives.
An Alumni Rehab Program builds lifelong recovery by fostering accountability, empowerment, and a renewed sense of purpose. It helps individuals stay connected, grow stronger, and maintain lasting stability in their recovery journey.
It is not uncommon to hear participants discuss the renewed sense of hope and purpose they experience when interacting with others who empathize with their experiences. They share achievements, acquire new coping mechanisms, and become empowered in society.
The bottom line is that the Alumni Rehab Program at DBH helps make recovery a mutual experience of progression and growth, one that is lasting.
